11/16/99: My Friend Mircea Tancau from Romania who's beautiful paintings inspire us
all. How I enjoyed spending time with Mircea teaching him English, shopping, hearing him
laugh. Getting a smile out of Mircea took a little work on my part. |

11/16/99: Gerson Andres Florez Perez my friend from Columbia. Gerson and his mother
seem to enjoy New York even with the language barrier. Gerson is taller than his mother
and was very protective over her. I wish I spoke Spanish so that Gerson could of told me
his stories. I do know that he always made me feel good and being with him was fun. |

11/16/99: My friend Didier Kamundu Batundi, the oldest honoree. We got to meet
Didier's wife and found that he has 3 young children. Somewhere along the line he decided
I was his forth child. What an honor to be connected with peacemaker. He too made me feel
welcome, safe, and inspired to continue my work towards peace. I wish I could speak
French. |

11/16/99: Jason Dean Crowe, an on-line friend for over a year. One of the most
profound writers of our times. His written words generate peace and resolves conflict.
Jason is only 14 and yet his words are so profound. My heart will always go out to Jason,
a true supporter of those of us trying to make a difference in the world. |

11/16/99: Leonora Shiroka from Kosovo and speaks fluent English. Truly my hero. She
has gone through so much in her life, and yet she is loving, kind, and dedicated to peace
in her country. She walks quietly, and holds herself tall. She touched my life and
inspires me to continue. It is truly my hope that our lives will connect again, for she is
a person I would like to have as a lifelong friend. |
