WHAT
THE GUYS THINK...
Although you may not
realize it, guys have an opinion on abortion too. We asked six
guys their opinion on this uncomfortable subject.
If
a woman does not protect herself properly in becoming pregnant,
it would be morally wrong to abort a child. Our government is
not supposed to be based on morals, it is supposed to be based
on freedom. A woman should have the freedom to choose whether or
not she wants a child, and the government should not regulate
morals. So in short, a woman should take all the protections she
can in not becoming pregnant. If she does not, it would be
against morals to abort, but it should not be regulated by the
government.

I
believe abortion should be legal and that women should have the
right to choose what to do with her own uterus. Why should
there be someone telling you what you can and can’t do with your
own body? It is a choice that should be left up to each person
whether you think it is right or wrong. That choice should be
left up to the individual who is pregnant.
- Aaron, 19
I
believe that abortion is acceptable in certain situation. If a
women has been raped, she then finds out she is pregnant,
she should be able to have an abortion. If a teenage girl has a
mishap and ends up bearing a child, she should also be able to
have an abortion. If ever a girl has more than one abortion
than she needs to figure it out. I think it kind of becomes
murder if you repeatedly do have the operation. Birth control,
condoms, the shots, whatever measures can be taken, should be
taken, to prevent this in the fist place. One time, or one
mistake, I think its okay. But precautions should be taken
before and especially after.
- Collin, 19
I
think that abortion is okay in cases of rape, or financial
trouble, where you won’t be able to take care of the baby. I
think that if a girl is going to get an abortion, she shouldn’t
be able to do it after she is 3 months pregnant. Late term
abortion shouldn’t be allowed because the baby is almost all the
way formed, so why not just put him/her up for adoption. I also
think abortion is okay to save the mother’s life. One of my
friends had to get an abortion at 18-years-old to save her own
life because of a medical condition, and I supported her in her
decision.

I
am Pro-life. I don’t think that abortion is right at anytime.
If you get raped, call me and I will got beat the guy to the
ground and come take care of you through your pregnancy and
after, just don’t go get an abortion. I am a religious guy and
just don’t think that we should be able to decide if we kill a
life that was given to us. And if your pregnancy is unplanned,
it is not the baby’s fault that is growing inside of you, there
are so many options, abortion isn’t the answer.
- Josh, 21
To
me, abortion is an important issue that deserves to be
addressed. Abortion isn’t something that should happen for any
little reason. It’s definitely not something that should be
taken lightly. Abortion should only be used in extreme
situations where if the child were to be born, it would be worse
off (if the baby were being born into a crack family or into a
family with abusive parents). I believe that there shouldn’t be
a law forbidding abortion but that it should be a very
complicated process to have it accomplished. I also believe
that the father of the “child” should have an almost but
not quite equal say as the mother. To sum up, abortion should
be an option, but also a last resort.
