When is it Right?

What is your definition of abstinence?  Could it be not having sex until you’re in love, or not until you are married, or not having sex at all? The definition of abstinence in The World Book Encyclopedia is abstaining partly or entirely giving up certain pleasures.  Wheatear or not you agree with these definitions they all have one thing in common.  Waiting, that is the only birth control method that is one hundred percent proven.  Some of you might be thinking well what about condoms or the other birth control methods.  Well none of those methods guarantee that they will protect you one hundred percent.

There probably are some questions flying around in your head right now, that’s good.  Here are some common questions that many young adults ask.

Q: Can I be abstinent if I have had sex before?

A:  Yes, there is something that is called second virginity.  That’s when you have had sex before and then you have had a change of mind and decided not to have sex until you are married.

Q: Why does it matter if I have sex?

A:  It matters because there are more sexually transmitted diseases then ever before.  Also if you are not married to your partner they might not stay committed to you or takes the responsibilities of a committed relationship.

Q: What if I don’t get married?

A: That’s easy, stay abstinent.

Q: All my friends are sexually active but I’m not.  It’s hard being the only virgin.  What can I do with all the peer pressure?

A: Well I know that it is hard t be the only person that hasn’t been sexually active but all you can do is stay strong and stand by your beliefs. You are the only one in the group that is positive that you aren’t pregnant or have any sexually transmitted diseases.
