| RiverFest 2000 June 17, 2000 |
| RiverFest is a community celebration highlighting civic pride and the spirit of volunteerism in the Tri-Cities. The third year of this successful, family oriented event will include 10k, 5k and 1 mile run/walks. Participation will be dreawn from thourghout the Pacific Northwest. RiverFest is a unique opportunity for local nonprofits to earn money through pledges collected for participation in the 10k, 5k, or 1 mile walk/run. Businesses, service clubs and involved community citizens are encouraged to form teams and support one or more organizations. Eighty percent of all pledges go to the agency designated on the pledge form while the remaining twenty percent supports the Volunteer Center for coordinating the event. In 1999, thirty nonprofit organizations collectively earned $30,000. Agencies are also invited to coordiante an activitiy that compliments the existing RiverFest festivities and earn money from acquired fees or sponsorhips.
