The "Students Offering Service" projects were scheduled for Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons throughout July and August.

Tuesday, July 6, 1999

The first activity was at the Volunteer Chore Service's Pasco location. Volunteers helped with laying sod, it was a lot of hard work, but the volunteers had a great time and who can beat free pizza.

Thursday, July 8, 1999

Reading Foundation received over 15,000 books from the "Thanks for Giving Book Harvest." The books needed to be gone through to make sure no pages were missing and the covers needed to be cleaned. None of the volunteers complained when the building heated up to around 95º.

Thursday, July 15, 1999

Volunteers helped at the Kennewick Boys and Girls Club. We assisted with craft projects for the kids. Some of us are not craft people and are pipe cleaner animals, that was what they were supposed to be, the kids never complained about our lack of abilities.

Tuesday, July 20, 1999

We helped with shelving children's books at the Mid Columbia Library in Kennewick. We started with four trays of books just when we thought we were finished the librarian would bring more carts full of books. Everyone had a very good time, we all took turns surveying the new library.

Thursday July 22, 1999

Volunteers played games, visited and even colored pictures with the clients of Adult Day Services. Everyone had a great time we were sorry when the time was over we did not want to leave.

Volunteers helped shelve books at the Richland Public Library.

Tuesday, August 3, 1999

Volunteers helped with reading, playing games and assisting with activity books at La Clinica. Volunteers had a great time with the children we really liked playing the memory game the children loved getting to keep the activity book.

Thursday, August 5, 1999

Volunteers helped beautify the wildlife refuge at the Benton Franklin Humane Society. We hauled chips in wheelbarrows to places that had no cedar chips we stopped when it started thunder and lightning, it was a lot a fun to see the finished product.

Tuesday, August 10, 1999

Volunteers helped mow and pull weed at two homes for the elderly in Kennewick. With the help of these volunteers it allows people to live independently.

Thursday, August 12, 1999

Volunteers learned how to create and edit web pages through the RECA Foundation. With there help we realized that editing web pages can be fun and not a scary process. The time we were there seemed to fly by.

Tuesday, August 17, 1999

Volunteers helped hand out SHAKE flyers. We started at the Richland Fred Meyer store, but the manager kicked us out of the store. We moved over to Rite Aid on Lee Blvd. The employees were great there they treated us with respect, we had a good time laughing and enjoying
